Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra released the following statement after the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office projected today that the federal deficit for Fiscal Year 2012 will be $1.1 trillion marking the fourth consecutive year of trillion dollar deficits.

"Senator Stabenow will now have increased the debt by $7.24 trillion since she joined the budget committee," said Hoekstra. "Sen. Stabenow has failed Michigan families, job creators and the next generation by doing nothing to stop our country from spiraling into debt. We can do better than four consecutive years of trillion dollar deficits."

As a member of the House Budget Committee, Pete Hoekstra helped pass four consecutive budgets that created the first budget surpluses in 30 years.
